Below is an overview of how and when the Theory exams will be taking place.

    5 to 8

    Students wishing to complete their Level 5 through Level 8 Theory Exam will now have two remote options to choose from to earn their theory credit.The Online Theory Study Guide with Exam or the standalone Online Theory Exam. A summary of what is included with each option can be found here.

    The Online Theory Exam will be available for purchase on December 1. If you have an existing exam credit that you would like to use towards your 5-8 Theory Exam, please register for the exam through your My RCM account.*
     
    * The deadline to use an exam credit for the 5-8 Online Theory Exam is November 30, 2020. Once purhcased, you will receive access to the Online Theory Exam on December 1, 2020. The exam credit can only be used towards the Online Theory Exam and not the Online Theory Study Guide with Exam.

* Note that those candidates who wish to be considered for 2021 academic credit, for Gold Medal consideration or for graduation must complete their exams no later than June 30, 2021.

** For Theory Levels 5 - 8 and History 9 - ARCT, in-person proctoring will be replaced during this period by online monitoring. Credits and certificates will be awarded following the normal procedures. If parents and students would still like to submit a proctor form, they can do so however this is optional and not a requirement for receiving credits and certificates.  

General Conditions for Zoom Exams

You need a computer (PC or Mac) plus a reliable, high speed (1.5Mbps and faster) Internet connection services. For best results, we recommend that while you are online, others in your household refrain from accessing the internet. 

Hardware and Software Requirements for Theory Levels 5 - 8 and History 9 - ARCT Exams

To complete your exam, you must have access to the hardware and software requirements outlined below: 

Hardware requirements - PC users: 

  • Windows Vista SP2 or higher 

  • Intel Pentium 4 or higher 

  • 1 GB RAM 

  • 500 MB hard drive space recommended 

  • Sound card 

  • Speakers or headphones for your computer 

Hardware requirements - Mac users: 

  • OS x 10.5 or higher 

  • Intel Mac 

  • 1 GB RAM 

  • 500 MB hard drive space recommended 

  • ​Speakers or headphones for your computer 

​Software Requirements:

  • The latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari is recommended for the most successful course experience 

  • Enable cookies (browser settings) 

  • A DSL, cable, or satellite internet connection is highly recommended (this course requires you to stream audio and video examples that can be very slow on a dial-up connection)
