Course Description

Join our most popular camp for March Break at our beautiful downtown Toronto location!

Learn what it’s like to play a real instrument (or two or three!) at The Oscar Peterson School of Music’s Instrument Exploration Camp. Students will have the opportunity to explore the many instruments we teach at The Oscar Peterson School of Music! Available for two age groups (Ages 4-5 and 6-7).

Explore the wonderful world of musical instruments and voice!

Our Instrument Exploration Camps are perfect for the budding vocalist, percussion prodigy, the next guitar virtuoso, or someone who just wants to play for fun. We provide students with age-appropriate hands-on experience on select instruments. Specially designed for two different age groups, these camps provide a variety of activities each day, including free play and outdoor activities.

Campers must be minimum age as of the first day of camp.

Where do camps take place?
All of our day camps take place at The Royal Conservatory, 273 Bloor Street West, in Downtown Toronto. Campers will have opportunities to spend time outside (weather permitting) and often take music related field trips to locations such as the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), the Edward Johnson Building (University of Toronto Faculty of Music), or jazz performances in Yorkville.

What are the age requirements for camp?
Campers must be a minimum of four (4) years of age as of the start date of camp, and independently (or with little assistance) use the washroom on their own. NOTE: If your camper does not meet these requirements, their enrollment may be cancelled at the discretion of The Oscar Peterson School of Music administration team.
What does my child need to bring to camp?
Detailed instructions on what to bring will be sent in your camp welcome email, but please plan to bring a nut-free lunch and snacks, a water bottle, indoor shoes and outdoor shoes, season/weather appropriate clothing, and a change of clothes.

Will my child learn how to play a musical instrument at camp?
Instrument Exploration Camp is designed to introduce campers to a variety of musical instruments in a group class setting, including piano, percussion, choir and pBuzz (intro to brass). Campers will not be enrolled in private lessons or receive 1:1 musical instrument instruction during their time at camp. To register for private lessons, please visit our website, or book a counselling call with our Registration Team to learn more about other programming options.

What if we are unable to attend camp? What is your withdrawal policy?
Last-minute absences from the camp due to medical reasons may be considered on a case-by-case basis. All early and after care fees are non-refundable. Please refer to our withdrawal policies for detailed information.

Do you offer early care or after care?
Yes, we offer both Early Care (8:00 am) and Extended Care (4:00-6:00 pm) at an additional cost. You will be able to opt in when registering for camp.
