Applications for the 2023-24 Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program are due February 28

The Glenn Gould School's unique one-year program for artists on the verge of a professional career in musical performance – The Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program – is accepting applications for Fall 2023 admission.

This funded post-graduate program offers a rich curriculum for career development and sets itself apart by offering students:

  • Full scholarship support + monthly living stipend (while living in Toronto)
  • A funded European residency program
  • Training from internationally acclaimed faculty
  • Performance opportunities in exceptional concert venues such as Koerner Hall
  • The opportunity to learn best practices for artists to market themselves professionally
  • Professional recording of a solo performance project (for use in the artist's portfolio)

The 2023-24 academic year marks the 10th anniversary of the program, which started in 2013 with the aim of honing some of the very best young classical performers, from Canada and around the world, who have finished their basic training and are ready to launch their careers.

Alumni of the program have appeared on the world’s great stages as soloists and members of major orchestras and leading chamber ensembles, including cellist Britton Riley (2013-14 Rebanks Fellow, National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center); bassoonist Darren Hicks (2014-15 Rebanks Fellow, Toronto Symphony Orchestra); violist Hezekiah Leung (2020-21 Rebanks Fellow, Dover Quartet); and violinist Cordelia Paw (2014-15 Rebanks Fellow), who was recently appointed Concertmaster of Sinfonia Rotterdam.

Soprano Sydney Baedke, a 2019-20 Rebanks Fellow recently made her debut in The Rape of Lucretia at Britten Pears Arts and London’s Royal Opera House, as well as her Montreal debut to rave reviews. She was also named one of Canada’s top emerging musicians under 30 by the CBC.

"Being a member of The Rebanks Family Fellowship Program provided me with a crucial bridge between my formal education and the beginning of my professional career and opened the door to some of the most important performance opportunities I've had to date. The support of the RCM has been life changing, and I'm forever thankful to have been a part of this uniquely exceptional program."
