COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update

We are committed to offering inspiring live music and events – in a way that is safe and responsible.

The Royal Conservatory of Music is monitoring the progress of COVID-19 closely. We are following all Health Canada, Public Health Ontario, and Toronto Public Health guidelines, and implementing all recommendations to protect the health of our audiences, students, artists, faculty, staff, and community members.

All concerts and events have significantly reduced capacity. We are adhering to current government regulated capacity limits for indoor events.

There are new procedures in place, including the following:

  • Physical Distancing everywhere in the building and concert halls

  • Mandatory masks everywhere in the building, including during concerts

  • Mandatory temperature checks for everyone before entering the building

  • A Waiver and a Health Questionnaire must be completed by all visitors before entering the building

  • The box office has plexiglass barriers and will be open 3 hours before each concert for purchases and ticket pick up

  • Attendees are asked to arrive 30-45 minutes before the concert or event to allow comfortable time for procedures to be followed

  • For Royal Conservatory presented events, tickets are now purchased by section, rather than for specific seats, to enable safe physical distancing and movement to enter and exit the concert halls.

  • Tickets are not currently being sent by mail, to reduce the number of touchpoints.

  • Seating is facilitated at the discretion of our ushers to ensure safe distancing. Seating designations are final.

  • Washrooms will be available before and after performance

  • No intermissions, to minimize gatherings and lines

  • No food and beverage services

  • No merchandise tables

  • Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes are available throughout the building, particularly in high traffic areas, including at all entrances and exits, the box office, as well as in the lobbies and bars.

  • Increased cleaning schedule of surfaces, handrails, doorknobs, handles, elevator keypads, ticketing office counter, bars, etc.

  • Thorough and frequent cleaning of all concert halls, including armrests after every concert/event.

  • Cleaning microphones and any other appropriate gear and production equipment.

  • Additional precautionary measures

  • All ticket holders will receive a "What to Expect" email with more details, before each concert you attend.

Staff are trained to support you, ensure your safety, and help you navigate the new procedures.
