Stewart Goodyear, renowned pianist and alumnus of the RCM Certificate Program and The Glenn Gould School, will be named as an Honorary Fellow of The Royal Conservatory during the first-ever online convocation ceremony for the RCM Certificate Program on September 27, 2020.

Lauded as "a phenomenon" by The Los Angeles Times and as "one of the best pianists of his generation" by The Philadelphia Inquirer, Goodyear is an accomplished concerto soloist, chamber musician, and composer. He has performed with many of the world’s major orchestras including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, and the NHK Symphony Orchestra.

At this year’s Convocation Ceremony, Goodyear will be in good company as students from across the country receive their Associate Diploma (ARCT) or their Licentiate Diploma (LRCM), the highest academic standings awarded by the RCM Certificate Program. And while the annual festivities will take place virtually via Zoom - a digital first for the Conservatory, the event will continue to feature the presentation of diplomas as well as musical performances.

“It is a great pleasure to be named an Honorary Fellow of The Royal Conservatory of Music,” said Goodyear, who also praised the cohort of music program graduates for “carrying the love of what you do and transporting that love to every person in the world.”

Dr. Peter Simon, President & CEO of The Royal Conservatory, extended his congratulations to the group of 2019-20 ARCT and LRCM recipients.

“Not only do you represent the best of the best of the RCM Certificate Program, but as part of this year’s graduating cohort, you have overcome additional challenges in order to succeed. I commend each and every one of you on your dedication and hard work.”
